Quality Assurance

We sell high quality silk fabric to gain and maintain the trust of our customers. Strict quality control measures are performed in house, at every stage of the process. Each meter of fabric is manually checked twice by 2 different sets of fabric quality inspection teams at our office, thereby ensuring that defective fabric are not shipped to our customers. Thus, care is taken during the production of products to ensure that finished items are of highest possible standards.

Product Range

Our exclusive range of silk fabric has an imperial beauty with an elegant charm.

Our silk products are very popular because of their soft smoothness, lustre and shine. The graceful and sensuous folds of the silk lend themselves exquisitely to designing.

Our silk is classified into three main categories - bridal wear, evening wear and luxurious fabric for the home furnishing industry.

Today Silk is yet another word for elegance and silk garments are prized for their versatility, wearability and comfort. Silk, or soie in French , is the strongest natural fiber. A steel filament of the same dia meter as silk will break, before a filament of silk. Silk absorbs moisture, which makes it cool in the summer and warm in the winter. Because of its high absorbency, it is easily dyed in many deep colors. Silk retains its shape , drapes well, caresses the figure and shimmers with a luster all its own.

Say "silk" to someone and what do they visualize? No other fabric generates quite the same reaction. For centuries silk has had a reputation as a luzurious and sensuous fabric, one associated with wealth and success. Silk is one of the oldest textile fibres known to man. It has been used by the Chinese since the 27th centry BC. Silk is mentioned by Aristotle and became a valuable commodity both in Greece and Rome. During the Roman Empire, silk was sold for its weight in gold. Today. Silk is yet another word for elegance and silk garments are prized for their versatility, wearability and comfort. Silk, or soie in French , is the strongest natural fiber. A steel filament of the same diameter as silk will break, before a filament of silk. Silk absorbs moisture, which makes it cool in the summer and warm in the winter. Because of its high absorbency, it is easily dyed in many deeo colors. Silk retains its shape , drapes well, caresses the figure and shimmers with a luster all its own. Contemporary silk garments range from evening wear to sports wear. A silk suit can go the office and , with a change of accessories and a blouse, transform into an elegant dinner ensemble. Silk garments can be worn for all seasons. Silk is also used for interior decoration and home furnishing . It is rich and aristocrat to decorate interiours with silk fabrics.

Our silk fabric range includes :

Dupion/Dupioni Silk Fabric
A heavy weight wild silk with crisp texture and beautiful sheen. Dupion silk has an irregular weave with tiny nubs showing. It is sometimes confused with 'shantung' or 'raw silk' which is usually lighter in weight and has a finer weave than dupion. Dupion is used extensively by many of the top bridal designers and manufacturers. It is formed from two silk worms nesting together to form one cocoon, thus creating a double strand which gives a thick and thin appearance. Embroidered dupion is an incredible fabric to use when creating your bridal gown but of course is rather expensive. Using embroidered dupion as a contrast fabric - in the bodice only for example, is a great compromise."Please be aware that silk is a natural product and, therefore, will always have a small amount of natural flaws, therefore, particularly for dressmaking, it is always advisable to order a little bit more than you actually need. We give this information in good faith as we would like all our customers to be happy with their projects".
Jacquard
There are three kinds of brocades; HEAVYWEIGHT, MEDIUMWEIGHT and LIGHTWEIGHT.

The HEAVYWEIGHT is appropriate for upholstery-type projects only. It is very sturdy and tightly woven and would be an excellent choice for dining room chair covers, bed headboards, footstools and regular upholstered furniture.

The MEDIUMWEIGHT is supple and easily manipulated for shaping structured clothing such as vests. fitted jackets, elegant ballgowns, formal sheath dresses and furnishing accessories such as duvet covers, pillows, and bedskirts. This brocade could also be used for some upholstery. It has no loose threads in the back and generally the design is allover with very little satin stitch showing

The LIGHTWEIGHT is perfect for drapes, some costuming/renaissance gowns and some home accessorizing. The designs are larger and the loose threads in the back dictate uses that won't encourage a lot of wear and tear.

BROCADES - THE TRADITION OF BRINGING SILK TO LIFE Brocade weaving, especially with gold and silver, has been an age-old tradition in India. There are two broad classes of brocades. Brocades of pure silk or silk and cotton blends and zari brocades with gold and silver threads. The most important material in brocade weaving is silk. It facilitates lovely weaves, is durable, strong, fine and smooth. There are several varieties of raw silk of which the chief ones used for brocades are Tanduri, Banaka and Mukta. Tanduri is imported from Malda and other places in Bengal. Banaka is thinner and finer variety and is mostly used to weave soft fabrics such as turbans and handkerchiefs. Mukta is a coarse and durable silk used for kimkhabs, as fine silk would not withstand heavy gold patterns.

It can be self-hemmed or finished with ribbons, and gives the gown a feminine flowing feel. It is generally used as an overlay on top of another more opaque fabric. Silk chiffon is the ideal choice but is more expensive than polyester chiffon, which is the next best alternative, rather than rayon or nylon chiffons. Silk Organa
Silk Organza is a sheer, thin open weave fabric that is heavier and crisper than silk gauze. It has a smooth, flat finish, is strong and durable, and gets its stiffness from tightly twisted yarns. Often used as the base fabrics for embellished fabrics.Silk organza is very lightweight and sheer, but a bit stiff, and can be gathered for bouffant uses, used alone or over other fabrics for fitted to loosely fitted blouses, dresses and evening wear. Also useful for facings, interfacings or lining. Silk organza can be used as an underlining to add crispness to parts of a garment. Sews easily, doesn't show pin holes. Holds creases well. Organza is washable, but wash it before cutting out.

Caring for silk

Cleaning silk: The best way to keep your fabrics, scarves, wraps, and custom silks looking their best is to have them dry cleaned. If hand washing, use a cold water detergent made for fine washable fabrics. Soak each silk item separately in cold water. Squeeze suds through gently. After rinsing, you may blot excess moisture with a towel: never wring or twist your silk item. Drip dry or spread on a flat surface, smoothing out any wrinkles. If necessary, iron on the wrong side with low heat. Use a dry iron for silk since steam can cause water spotting.

Storing silk: Instead of stuffing your silk scarves and custom silks in a drawer, keep them handy and ready to wear. Stack scarves folded in small boxes and place on an open shelf or on top of bureau. Show them off in open baskets. To make scarves part of your decor, hang them on tie racks or Lucite bars. The array of colors and patterns will liven up the walls and silk scarves will always be within easy reach.
